Understanding Search Fundamentals
Search Fundamentals
Before diving into advanced techniques, it's important to understand how Parsewise's search engine works. This lesson covers the fundamentals of semantic search, how AI understands context, and the basic principles that power every search query.
How Semantic Search Works
Unlike traditional keyword search, Parsewise uses semantic search to understand the meaning behind your queries. This means you can search using natural language and get results based on context, not just exact matches. The AI analyzes relationships between concepts, understands synonyms, and can even infer what you're looking for when your query is incomplete.
Search Operators and Syntax
While natural language works great, knowing search operators can make your queries more precise:
- Quotation marks for exact phrases: "project requirements"
- AND/OR operators: marketing AND strategy
- Exclusion with minus: budget -draft
- Wildcards: market* (matches marketing, marketplace, etc.)
Understanding these fundamentals will help you craft more effective searches. In the next lesson, we'll explore advanced filtering techniques to narrow down results even further.
